Fasting for accelerated healing.
Fasting for accelerated healing? An answer might be: Whether one is thinking of fasting for health reasons or not, fasting may also have other benefits too. Although this should not be the first action one takes if health of a physical or mental type is a concern, this is because if your physical or mental health are under stress of any kind then in the short term fasting will add stress. Especially if this is the first time and one is hoping for a quick fix. The list of things that fasting may help with is extensive. Personally I had lots of trouble with fasts lasting longer than a day. I tried fasts that lasted nearly 7 days and 5 days and many 3 day fasts, but my refeeds always undid any good I had achieved. I would eat too much and the wrong things and my body would react terribly. I often felt worse than before the fast! However, when I switched to daily intermittent fasting and tried to follow the advice of Dr Jason Fung of doing at least 6 days a week, everything worked out fine. I was healing and my pre diabetes was slowing getting fixed. I was not trying to lose weight, but be a healthier version of myself every few months. Why would anyone fast if they were already healthy? Fasting helps with looking good, and feeling good, and gives one confidence that their future is in good hands, it also helps with keeping a clear mind, thinking is easier, it helps keep a check on addictive behaviours, fasting stresses the body in a mild way that leads to a reaction on your daily refeed where by everything gets a little stronger. But ofcourse this mostly depends on what you refeed on? The good news is if you think fasting can help, you are most likely right. However, fasting has to be part of a journery that has to follow two stages in my opinion. The first of which is getting off carbohydrates. By following one of the carb free diets like keto or paleo. Next step two is to begin lengthening your fasting window, by extending your night fast by an hour or two every week or two. This will give your mitochondria time to adapt. This part cannot be rushed. This is because the consequences are abject failure! The only reason I am in keto with daily intermittent fasting myself today is not because I did not fail, but because I failed plenty, all the time infact, I was a wreck for most of the transistion. Eventually by brute force, not intellect, I managed it. This was because my body had finally adjusted! So be paitent give your body time. Visit for more information why it needs time? So if you have high blood pressure, this is normal when walking upstairs because you are exerting yourself. It is also normal if you have a skeletal curve because it is more difficult for your heart to pump the blood around this curve so it is having to pump harder to get the oxygen up to your brain etc and of course this may raise blood pressure on a semi-permanent basis. But in most peoples" case, it is more likely related to a furring up of the arteries. Hopefully, I am wrong, but don"t feel bad about this because, even if one has always taken good care of themselves in the past, this condition is not really related to exercise or strength, in fact, because most people do the governments" recomendaton of at least walking 3 hours a week, we can discount exercise at this stage of our discussion. Our focus with high blood pressure is more likely to do with a high carbohydrate diet. We were sold the idea that carbs were safe, and that fat was bad. This has been the mantra for more than 50 years. But it may of been wrong, according to There are lots of books out now saying this too for example the One study I came across recently said a doctor got a bunch of dead young GI"s back from the Korean war 1950 to 1953, and was allowed to perform autopsies, but to the docs surprise, the doc discovered that of these GI"s in their late teens and early twenties a already had the beginnings of heart disease. (furring up of the arteries). Copyright (c) 2008-2024 NutritionVault Mark C. Barry BSc. and his materials are not intended to treat, diagnose, cure or prevent any disease.
